We took a side trip to Wailua Falls and found that it was roaring and kicking up almost half its height in foam.

From the overlook we could see its headwater - Mt. Wai'ale'ale - off in the distance, surprisingly unobscured by clouds. It's one of the rainest spots on earth with 400 - 600 inches of rain a year, which explains why the waterfall was roaring...
