Hawaii's endangered monk seals create quite a stir when they occasionally show up on beaches. This healthy specimen came ashore on Poipu Beach in mid-day. Beach-goers were instructed to keep their distance and let her have the run of the beach.

Obviously unconcerned about people, she waded onto a sandbar and proceeded to take an afternoon nap while cameras and iphones snapped away.
