El Taj Oceanfront Condominium #22

Playa del Carmen, Mexico

There is so much to enjoy in Playa del Carmen - natural beauty, weather, proximity to spectacular Mayan ruins and other special attractions, water sports, shopping, food, and evening strolls and nightlife on the "Avenida Quinta," not to mention the upscale improvements since our visit of six years ago. We fell in love with this project and decided to take advantage of pre-construction pricing. That means of course that it has yet to get underway. We'll post progress reports and photos on this page, but for now all we have is a billboard that marks the "spot."

For additional information visit: El Taj Oceanfront

To help visualize the finished product, we do have a few photos of El Taj' sister project that's nearing completion across the street. We love the architectural styling and details, some of which are shown below
September 2, 2007 update:

In August, 2007, development kicked off in earnest. As these photos attest, the existing beachfront hotel is demolished to make way for the construction of El Taj Oceanfront.

August 6, 2008 update:
Actual construction has begun. The restaurant/beach club and first floor units are taking shape.
July 5, 2008 update:
In this update, construction workers are forming some of the 115 pilings that will be driven 80 feet to bedrock to the distress of neighboring property dwellers.....
The beachfront walls are rising up to three stories, and free-flowing balconies are beginning to form.
See the bottom photo of our hard-working construction crew.
March 8, 2009 update:
As part of the interior work the first built-in sofas and platform beds are being installed. The crew has expanded to 250 strong, having picked up workers from other less fortunate projects that have shut down in the economic downturn.
November 12 , 2009 update:

In November, 2009 we traveled to Playa del Carmen to view 2-1/2 years of progress first hand and make some final decisions for putting ETO 22 into service. Although the unit still lacks appliances, furniture, and other amenities, we were thrilled with the quality of the interior finishes. Here you see our preliminary walkthru and the stunning exterior work that is nearly complete.

Plan to come on down to balmy Playa del Carmen and experience the finished project beginning March 1, 2010!

The interior work has begun, and aesthetic details, such as the fish pond, are being added. The unique character of the project is beginning to show its face.
